One North Restaurant
I am so happy to get back to writing my Long Island Restaurant posts and could not think of any restaurant more deserving to lead the charge than One North.
One North is owned by Anthony Scotto, who is well known across Long Island for his restaurants - Insignia Prime Steak & Sushi, Blackstone Steakhouse & RARE650 Prime Steak & Sushi.
Unlike Scotto’s other restaurants, One North is Mediterranean focused, which makes it feel likes its own entity. In my opinion, it is also one of his best.
Driving up to One North is an experience in and of itself. All of Scotto’s restaurants are beautiful, but One North looks like a gorgeous home in the Hamptons. After valeting your car, you enter the restaurant where you are greeted by gorgeous tile and huge soaring ceilings. Once you make your way past the hostess stand, there is a large bar with plenty of seating. I have never had to wait for a table at One North, (always make a reservation), but I try to get there a little early so I can grab one of their Signature Infused Vodkas at the bar. After grabbing a couple of drinks, you can choose to sit in the beautiful indoor dining room, or if it is warm outside, on the patio. In either location, the décor is truly stunning and it is easy to forget that you are right in the center of Long Island!
Once you are seated, the waiters introduce themselves and go over the specials. Every table has 2 waiters, which is something Scotto does in all of his restaurants. The first waiter takes your drink order and then the second waiter tells you the specials and takes your dinner order. I have been to One North over a dozen times and there is always a new fish special on the menu. Half the time, I have never even heard of the fish before! Pro Tip - always ask how much the fish special is! I went to another restaurant and ordered the fish special without knowing the price. It wound up being $125!
In addition to the amazing fish specials, One North is also known for their Mozzarella Bar. If you are a cheese fan, no visit is complete without ordering one of their Burrata dishes.
I have had the pleasure of trying One North’s Truffle Burrata dish on previous occasions, but for this visit, they were offering a Burrata special, so of course we had to give it a try.
The special consisted of Burrata with Kalamata olives, Cucumbers and Bread Crumbs - Oreganata style.
Words cannot even begin to describe how good this Burrata dish was. It was creamy, delicate and had the perfect amount of saltiness. It was beyond heavenly!
Recently my husband and I decided to re-watch the Sopranos starting from Season 1, and in the last episode we watched, Tony was eating a nice large lobster.
After watching this scene, my husband and I had such a craving for lobster. Unfortunately, One North does not have a full lobster option on the menu, so we settled for a lobster tail.
Thankfully we didn’t have to settle too much because the lobster tail was absolute perfection and completely satisfied our lobster desires. It was light, sweet and just melted in our mouths.
After our lobster tail, it was time for a nice big bowl of pasta! My husband is a big fan of peas with pasta, so when I saw this Pasta Bolognese dish with peas, it was a win win! I love a good Bolognese sauce and One North does it just right! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce coated the pasta without being overly heavy. This is definitely a good dish to share!
Last but certainly not least is dessert! Usually I am a chocolate fan for dessert but One North’s Key Lime Pie is one of the best I have ever had! The key lime is light and airy and the crust brings in texture to compliment the key lime. Add the toasted marshmallow topping and you have the perfect bite to end your meal!
