When I was in grad school studying for my MBA, I took a class on New Product Development. This was one of my favorite classes because I learned about how people embrace new trends. There are 5 different groups of people - Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority and Laggards.

Innovators are the people that see a trend and jump right on board. These people are risk takers and confident in their choices. They don’t care if a product is trendy or not, as long as they like it, they are happy.

Early adopters in today’s day and age would be your influencers. These people study the trends and once they feel it is successful, they will implement it into their life.

The majority of people would fall into the groups of Early Majority, Late Majority and Laggards. These are people that wait for a trend to be mainstream and proven before giving it a try.

Which group would you fall into?

The outfit I am wearing today is full of new trends. These trends started rolling out last year, but now they are hotter than ever.

The paperbag waist trend is here to stay and I love how designers have now incorporated the look into denim shorts. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on trendy shorts since in NY we only get a couple of warm weather months. These shorts are reasonably priced and allow you to embrace the trend without breaking the bank.

Another hot trend from last year is the puff sleeved top. Some of the puff sleeves last year reminded me of Jerry Seinfeld’s pirate shirt, but I just found this top in a beautiful tangerine color that has the prettiest puff sleeve details!

Would you wear either of these trends? Let me know your thoughts! xoxo Pamela
