Ocean Restaurant - Bayville NY

With the summer coming to a close, I’m trying to soak up the last couple of warm nights by dining at outdoor restaurants. When I think about restaurants on Long Island that have outdoor dining, there is one restaurant that stands above all the rest. That restaurant is Ocean.

The Rust & Gold - Huntington, NY

A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I were in Huntington Village heading home after a night out when we saw a place that seemed to just be getting the night started. Curious to see what could be so lively at this time of night, we drove over to get a closer look. There were tons of people outside and we realized that “this must be the place.” The place we discovered is The Rust & Gold.

H2O East Islip - East Islip, NY

Last week I had the honor of attending a private tasting and cooking demonstration at H2O East Islip. The Bohlsen Group invited a number of top Long Island food bloggers to sample items from the upcoming menu and meet with the man behind the scenes, Executive Chef Wayne.

Swallow Restaurant - Huntington, NY

There are certain restaurants that come to the forefront of my mind when people ask my favorite place to eat in Long Island. One restaurant I will always recommend is Swallow in Huntington. I love everything about this restaurant – trendy, inventive cocktails, and delicious dishes.

Sandbar Restaurant - Cold Spring Harbor, NY

Sandbar is a beautiful restaurant located in the quaint village of Cold Spring Harbor. Upon entering the restaurant, diners are greeted by a spacious bar with a lively scene. The dining room is also a thing of beauty, as it features a bright room with plenty of windows and nautical themed décor.

Hush Bistro - Farmingdale, NY

Hush Bistro is one of my favorite Long Island restaurants. Chef Bynum serves innovative, fresh food in a small, intimate space. The open kitchen concept allows diners to get a full view of the inner workings and provides entertainment to the dining experience.

Jema Restaurant - Huntington, NY

I’ve been going to physical therapy for the last couple of weeks, and every session the therapist and I discuss new Long Island restaurants.  The therapist lives in Huntington, so he told me about this great new restaurant that just opened in town. When I tried to make a reservation, I realized that everyone seems to have heard about this restaurant because it was booked for the entire month! I was able to get a reservation for the last weekend in February for a date night with my husband. This worked out perfectly since our Valentine’s Day plans were cancelled due to the fact that I was stuck in bed with the flu.

Rincon Criollo Restaurant - Corona & Huntington Station, NY

My husband and I are huge fans of the show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” If you’ve never watched the show, it is hosted by Guy Fieri on the Food Network Channel. Viewers watch Guy as he travels to the best diners, drive-ins and dives throughout the United States. Guy brings awareness to relatively unknown restaurants and highlights a couple of their best dishes.

When my kids are older and my husband is retired, our goal is to travel the United States and visit as many of these restaurants as possible! We were very excited that we didn’t have to hold off on our journey until retirement because one of the restaurants featured on the show now has locations in Long Island and Queens!

Verde Kitchen & Cocktails - Bayshore, NY

As parents of 2 young children, my husband and I try to go out every Saturday night. For 7 days and 6 nights we prioritize our children’s schedules but Saturday night is our adult time. We were looking for somewhere new and different to go, when we came across this upscale Mexican restaurant in Bay Shore.

Maroni Cuisine - Northport, NY

I love a restaurant that it is anything but traditional. Maroni Cuisine is laid-back with rock and roll playing on the speakers and food flowing on the tables. They feature a 16-course tasting menu with passed small bites and endless wine pouring through the night.

Arata Sushi - Syosset, NY

It took 6 years of living in Long Island for me to discover this hidden gem! I thought I had tasted good sushi before, but once I stepped foot into Arata, I realized I hadn’t even begun to taste how good sushi can be!
